Project Engineer


Rick Schmitt has been with Bosse Construction since 2014, where he started as a superintendent to gain field experience and was soon promoted to project engineer. As superintendent, Rick worked on the remodeling of Gilt Distribution Center in Louisville and the remodeling of the Kentucky Science Center’s first floor. As project manager, he’s worked on the Xscape Movie Theater complex and Miralea Phase II, both in Louisville. His previous experience at Bosse Construction was as a general laborer and carpenter trainee in the summers of 2009-2010-2011.

Rick earned his Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree from Purdue University. While studying at Purdue, Rick completed an internship at Lesco Design and Manufacturing Company in LaGrange, Ky., then worked full-time for Lesco as a project engineer and project manager. He was an integral part of Lesco’s design and implementation of a conveyor system at the Kansas City Ford Plant for the aluminum body F-150, including five months on site during installation as project engineer.

Rick served five years as a volunteer powerlifting coach at his alma mater, Trinity High School, and volunteers his time with the Trinity football program, where he was a three-year letterman. An accomplished sports photographer, Rick has worked the Kentucky Derby, Breeders’ Cup, Belmont Stakes and Indianapolis 500 for Nikon Professional Services, kentuckyderby.com and for various trade publications.
